I’m John, an independent wedding celebrant based in Glastonbury, working across Somerset, Bath, Wiltshire and Dorset.

Before celebrancy, I spent years in public-facing director roles where I have many years of experience in public speaking. Customer service has always been at the core of my work, helping people achieve exactly what they want with care and grace. I later worked as a registrar, so I understand both the legal side of a wedding and the ceremonial side and how different they are.

Why choose a celebrant led wedding ceremony?

Well a registrar handles the paperwork, the official words, fixed and set by law. Most couples complete this separately, quickly and privately, for around £60, either just before or just after their ceremony.

A celebrant ceremony is something else entirely. No script pulled from a folder, no “insert names here.” Just a ceremony built from your story, in words that actually sound like you, delivered by someone who’s taken the time to know you before the day arrives.

You want a wedding ceremony that wows and frankly, sets the bar high for all weddings to come! I take the time to get to know you as a couple. From our first conversation to the ceremony itself, I will work with you to create something that feels natural, personal and unforgettable.

HOW WE WILL CREATE YOUR CEREMONY

I will meet with you, either in person or virtually, to explore your ideas, hear your story and discuss any special elements you would like to include. With a celebrant-led ceremony, the possibilities are limitless. Every detail is crafted to reflect who you are, whether you want something formal, casual, light-hearted, or deeply emotional. This is your moment, and we are here to ensure it truly represents you.

01 Getting to know you

We will talk, in person or by video about your story, your relationship, and what you picture for the day. This is also your chance to ask me anything.

02 Writing your ceremony

I write every ceremony from scratch, drawing on what you have shared: readings, vows, music, and any rituals that mean something to you, like a candle lighting, a hand-fasting, whatever fits

03 Getting it right

We meet talk to go through the draft together, as many times as is needed and make any final adjustments, so nothing feels like a surprise on the day.

04 Rehearsal

If you would like one, we will run through the ceremony beforehand, so everyone involved feels confident and settled.

05 The Ceremony

I arrive early, calm and fully prepared, and guide the ceremony so you can simply be present in it.

Each year I only book a fairly small number of wedding ceremonies, so as to ensure every couple I work with gets my complete and dedicated attention. Your day and making it perfect, is everything to me.

The Investment

Ceremonies from £700

Accommodation and travel costs may be added for venues outside of Somerset. Every quote is tailored and agreed in advance.

Happy to have a discussion around a lower cost for a late booking or smaller simpler ceremony, lets talk.

Payment Terms – Half ceremony deposit payable on booking, remaining balance payable two weeks before the ceremony.
