Frequently Asked Questions

A funeral celebrant creates and leads a ceremony that honours the deceased reflecting their personality, beliefs, and the memories shared by their loved ones.

Our role is to listen carefully, craft a meaningful script, and deliver a service that truly feels right for the person and their family, whether this is traditional, spiritual, modern, or simply personal.

These take place anywhere that feels appropriate and special, from a crematorium, cemetery, woodland burial sites, village halls, gardens, or an event at home.  We work closely with you and your funeral director (if one is involved), to make sure the venue and ceremony are suitable for you and your family.

Yes! Absolutely.  More and more people are choosing to plan their own funeral ceremony in advance, either to ease the burden on loved ones or to ensure their wishes are known.  Often called a Living Funeral, we will work with you to capture your life story, your values, and choices for readings, photos, music and tone, creating a written ceremony that can be safely kept and shared when needed. This can be updated at any time, and we will ensure it is treated with utmost respect and confidentiality.

A celebrant-led funeral focuses on the life story of the person who has died, rather than a specific faith or doctrine; however, we can include religious readings, hymns, or prayers if they were meaningful to the person or create a completely non-religious service. It is entirely your choice.

Yes, a memorial or celebration of life can be held weeks or months after a funeral, often in a relaxed setting where family and friends gather to remember and celebrate together.  We will work with you to craft a heartfelt, uplifting ceremony that honours their memory in the way that feels right to you.

Yes, every service we write includes opportunities for family and friends to share memories, play special songs, read poems, or light candles and add in any additional personal elements to ensure this brings warmth and meaning to the ceremony.

Ceremonies at a crematorium normally last around 20 to 30 minutes depending on the venue’s schedule; these can vary if using a natural burial site. Memorials and celebrations of life can be longer and have much more flexibility, lasting from 30 – 60 minutes on average; of course, it is dependent on the venue and what is included.

Yes, we can help you write or edit a eulogy or help craft one on your behalf after a conversation about your loved one’s life and everything they achieved and the relationships they enjoyed.  Many families appreciate guidance in expressing what can be difficult emotions with warmth and clarity.

Great question— that is absolutely fine.  We can still support you directly in planning and delivering the ceremony, and can recommend trusted local professionals if needed.
